저는 2007년에 브룩헤븐 칼리지에 입학 했습니다. 첫 수업시간에 얼마나 걱정을 많이 했는지 잊을 수가 없습니다. 영어를 잘 하지 못했지만, 학생써비스센타에 있는 다문화센터에 무작정 찾아 갔습니다. 상담자가 얼마나 친절하고 차분하게 도와 주었는 지 괜한 걱정을 했다는것을 금방 깨닫았습니다. 그는 저를 아주 환영하면서, 필요한 것이 무었인지 알고 있었고, 나와 같이 해외에서온 학생들과 영어로 자연스러럽게 대화하게 해주었습니다. 특히 ESOL프로그램에서의 <대화 파트너>는 나의 수줍음과 발음을 개발하도록 도와주었습니다. 브룩헤븐칼리지의 교수님들은 아주 친절하고 진지했습니다. 교수님의 말을 이해하는데 전혀 문제가 없었습니다. 캠퍼스에서 만나는 모든 사람들과 웃는 얼굴로 인사를 하면서 생활합니다. 캠퍼스도 참 아름답습니다. 특별히 내가 좋하하는 곳은 도서관 빌딩앞의 분수대인데, 그 곳에서 기분전환을 하곤합니다.
I have been a student at Brookhaven College since 2007. I will never forget my first day at Brookhaven. I was very anxious about registering for my classes. I went to the Multicultural Center in the Student Services Building to register even though I didn’t speak English well. That is when I realized that my anxiety was completely unnecessary. The advisors who work there had much patience. They paid attention to my needs and made me feel I was very welcomed. Also, I was very bashful to talk other students who came from other countries, but my speaking class made me speak English naturally. The “Conversation Partners” which is part of the ESOL program helped me to get rid of my shyness and improve my pronunciation. The teachers who work in Brookhaven are very genius and generous. No matter what students say, the professors understand the students’ words. Even though Brookhaven is a place to study, the scene is like the heaven. Everybody walks around the campus with smiles on their faces. Students can study inside or outside the buildings because the campus is so pretty. After studying the library, I can feel refreshed with the sounds coming from a fountain which is located in front of the library building. The scene at Brookhaven College will be like nothing you have ever seen in Korea.

저는 브룩헤븐 칼리지의 첫날을 지금도 기억합니다. 첫 등록을 했을 때 영어실력이 좋지 않았습니다. 등록과정이 매주 복잡했는데, 다문화 센터에서 아주 친절시 도아 주어서 쉽게 했습니다.
브룩헤븐 칼리지는 다양한 클럽활동이 있고, 4년제 대학의 편입비율이 아주 좋은 대학입니다. 또한 ESOL프로그램이 오랜 경험과 연구로, 아주 정교하게 발달되어 있다는 사실을 말하지 않을 수 없습니다. 예를 들면, Lab 시스템을 나의 말하기 듣기와 읽기쓰기를 획기적으로 향상시켰습니다. 특별한 기억은 역시 <대화 파트너프로그램>입니다. 많은 학생이 현지인을 만나는 아주 좋은 기회이며, 브룩헤븐 칼리지의 전통이면 자랑입니다, 저는 부지런히 살려고 애쓰고 있습니다. 나는 회계학을 전공할 계획입니다. 저는 브룩헤븐 칼리지에서의 계속 공부한다면 성공할 것을 확신하고 있습니다.
I remembered my first day at Brookhaven College. At that time, my English skills were not so good. When I registered for my classes, I expected it to be very complicated. However, the advisors who work in the Multicultural Center were very helpful.
Brookhaven College has been good and helpful for me because it has various kinds of special activities and high transfer rates to the university. Also, the ESOL instructors have much experience and knowledge. My English has improved because of my ESOL instructors. In addition, lab system is very helpful to improve my reading, listening and speaking, writing, and grammar skills. The “Conversation Partner Program” is also useful. Many students have a great opportunity to meet native speakers. I want to learn and experience many things at Brookhaven College. In order to do so, I am going to make an effort to live a diligent life all the time. I want to study accounting. I will keep studying hard at Brookhaven College. I have no doubt that I will succeed and have the best experience here.
