What is EPIK?
 

The EPIK stands for English Program in Korea, a program sponsored by the Korean Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. The objectives of EPIK are:

 

  • Improve the English communication and language abilities of students and teachers
  • Encourage cultural awareness and exchange
  • Improve English teaching methodology in Korea
  • Enhance the Korean image internationally

 

 

 

Who Can Teach English in Korea?
 

  • Have completed two full academic years or more at an accredited college or university
  • Be a citizen from a country where the primary language is English
  • Be fluent and proficient in the English language
  • A strong motivation to be a sincere, committed teacher with the interests of students of primary consideration
  • Eligible for obtaining an E-2 or F-4 visa

 

EPIK Teacher Responsibilities
 

  • Conduct English Conversation classes for Korean students and teachers
  • Assist with or jointly conducting English classes with Korean co-teachers
  • Prepare teaching materials and activities for English language education
  • Assist with activities related to English language education and other extracurricular activities

 

Salary
 

A teachers' salary is based on a combination of qualifications and experience. Comprehensive salary guidelines have been put in place for EPIK teachers:

Note: Level 4 applicants may be eligible for some cities and provinces with a limited number of positions. (monthly pay : 1.5 ~ 1.7 million Won).

Working Hours
 

  • 8 hours per day, 5 days per week (Monday through Friday).
  • Actual class instruction hours will not exceed 22 hours per week.

1 year (52 weeks), renewable with bonus of 2.0 mil Won.
